🎉 QUODPOT GAME: Peckenpaugh vs Ilvermorny

• During the game, Fiona Moon is put in charge of managing "the nursery" of Home Mag-Ec babies belonging to quodpotters, cheerleaders and marching band members. Soothing the fake babies winds up being a bit less like real childcare and more like the world's most extreme game of whack-a-mole.

• 🎓 Animagus Studies & Alchemy are meeting this week!


• Echo Ellerby and Willow Quackenbush find bouquets of crocuses set outside their dorm windows this morning. There is an accompanying note, but its written in a scratchy runic script that they might recognize as the lettering often found on Muscheron adornments — Appalachian Mushkin. No doubt a thank you from the little lovelorn muscheron last month.


• She knows you're busy with the spring production, but Madam Beridze insists that [Performing Arts Club] and [Concert Band] collaborate on a big opening number for the talent show. Students will be allowed to do their own individual performances still, and this one won't be judged. The meeting runs long as students vote and vote and vote again on what number they'll do. It seems the freshmen were very moved by the showing of Shrek during film club last month, and All Star keeps winning out. Thankfully, there's still time to change Madam Beridze's mind about performing this masterpiece...

It's Turnip Tot Tuesday! in the cafeteria today.
While Tater Tots were slated for today, a certain insatiable fake baby with a hankerin' for starch saw to it that potato stores are low here at Peckenpaugh.

• 🐙 Animagus Studies students are really making headway! Desmond Savage, Jupiter Quigley & Kermit Creekmore are feeling the fur this week!
  • At any point from today forward at your own discretion, the above named characters may achieve their Animagus transformations. It is up to you to decide when that is!
• 💯 The spirit stick has somehow found its way to Thorntrail. While fooling around with it today, Jupiter Quigley accidentally drops it from the highest balcony of the Thorntrail treehouse. The stick bangs against branches and balconies and squatch supports all the way down to the mulched ground, turning everything into a glitchy assault on the eyes that takes several hours to fix. They lose 10 Points for the shenanigans, whether accidental or not.
  • Wyatt Webberley gets woozy from the wild display of light and colors and winds up passing out, being caught by Ramona Grimsditch just before hitting the ground. They wake up in the infirmary with one hell of a migraine and are prescribed plenty of rest and a potion that smells a bit like burnt sneakers, but boy does it do the trick!
  
  
  • Artistically minded Laszlo Pataki takes a bunch of photos of the mess. While sorting through the shots later, Mr. Potkin is so taken with the color composition that he recommends Laszlo submit a few of the photos to a magical photography publication specifically for work by young artists.

• Part time insult comic full time bronze statue Yalldive Peckenpaugh is at it again. When she gets a freshman with a particularly good zinger the student retaliates, pitching the orange they'd been eating at her face. Yalldive bats it away like it's nothing — who knew she had such a wide range of motion? — and the wayward orange nails Howdy Stoppelbein in the head. Ow.

• The plaintive mews of Zero Sugar Pepsi attract the attention of Merlin Pletcher, who finds her stuck up a tree — literally! Her needles are stuck fast in the branches and it takes a lot of patience and care to dislodge her. Later tonight, Merlin finds a gift in the form of a paddle from one of Ms. Treetops' cactuses sitting outside their dorm door. Hopefully they didn't step on the prize!


• Alchemy students are diverging from the junior/senior curriculums today to learn potion that can only be effectively brewed on foggy days and renders the drinker virtually invisible. Alchemy students now know how to brew the Camouflaging Cordial.

• Apparition Courses will be offered in April for all students over the age of sixteen. Sign ups for the two week course taught by Mr. Youngblood will go up today!


• While enjoying the sun on the central green today, Patrice hears a strange whistling and feels suddenly overcome with fatigue. The longer they sit, the less vivid the colors of the crocuses poking up through the earth, the dimmer the warm sunshine, and the more tired they feel. Eventually, they carry themself to the infirmary, but feel better before Healer Greatheart can even get to them to see what's wrong...

• [FAKE BABY PARENT J] asks Zippy if he would mind watching their baby during the Quidditch game—everyone they trust is busy! Of course Zippy tells them he'd be happy to... and then produces his hourly rates sheet for babysitting. Hm.

SPIRIT WEEK BEGINS!

• To celebrate classes are taking a break from usual coursework to play (semi-educational) games:
  • Mr. Berzelius hands his TA Zadie Lovelace a poncho because today she's going to be helping him create some messy explosions. Student teams in all four years are pitted against each other to create the tallest explosive foam tower from harmless ingredients. There's a very specific amount of powdered pixie dander you need to add to achieve the highest arc. Can the kids figure out what it is?
  • Sophomores and Juniors in Charms are playing a quiz game where rapid fire questions are delivered and students can only answer while maintaining leviosa on increasingly heavy items.
  • Mr. Qualls is playing 3-D rendering demo tapes from the 1980s in the computer lab all day and man that is some trippy shit.
• 👀 It's a late night for [Peckenpaugh's Cheer Squads], who spent their evening in Central Classrooms decorating the lockers of Quodpot and Quidditch players. It turns into a bit of a party, and the squads leave a bit later than intended. The moment they exit the building, the whole crowd of them is met by a pair of strange, unfamiliar faces...

• While cleaning his dorm room, Hawthorne Quackenbush accidentally knocks a pot of experimental ink fashioned from strange purple flowers over onto his open journal. The ink bleeds through, staining his page indigo and the pages of other students journals fill with flowers drawn in that same dark ink, until every page is nearly black...
  • The ink spill has caused a massive journal malfunction! Today, a single entry appears in everyone's journal, an all dark purple page where the ink shows white and no names can be discerned from what's being written... Everyone who writes on this entry will be anonymous!

• Tonight, [QUODPOT VARSITY AND JV] are in central classrooms decorating the lockers of cheerleaders and marching band members as part of the spirit week celebration. When they leave, they hear the bronze statue of Yalldive Peckenpaugh causing a racket. Upon investigation, it seems a gaggle of Malstrom students are trying to vandalize her again. Caught red-handed, they draw their wands for a fight, but before either side can take action something gallops in from the west. It's Bearigold! She chases those Malstrom hoodlums clear to the Peckenpaugh bridge, and delivers the seat of someone's pants to Skip RIder as a trophy.

• 🔮 It's the middle of the night, and Armani Addams has been up forever trying to get their baby back to sleep. They're finally about to nod off when it starts back up again. But it's not the usual noises. It's a voice, cold and full of static.
  
  "Who... is... she..." it chokes out. "Who... is she... who is she who is she who IS SH—" It stops, and the baby sleeps soundly through the rest of the night.

🎂 Happy Birthday, Fiona Moon!

• Happy Pi Day! The Gastrognome has a stand set up with books on famous mathematicians today, and at Dez's you can get a free slice of pie with every meal.


• It's the last night of spirit week, and tomorrow is the big game, so naturally the students of Peckenpaugh need a ritual sacrifice to ensure victory against Malstrom. As is tradition, Quodpotters, cheerleaders, band members and spirited students gather down on the river south of campus for a bonfire. At the peak of the night, the sacrifice begins: Quodpotters break old quodpot brooms and toss them in the fire. This year, there are a few newer brooms in that number — Chanel Addams managed to steal two from Malstrom in a very risky mission conducted two nights ago.

  • Felicity Deverill's dad somehow loses their wallet to the newly installed and highly sneaky claw machine in the arcade.
  
  
  • Toward the end of the night, the current [Bowling Club members] overhear a few staff members and alumni chatting about "the short cut." None of them are able to remember where it is or, when they think about it, where it even led. The conversation comes to an end, though, when one among them, a man with salt-and-pepper curls, remarks that, "They made it so you needed one from each House after you guys left, you know."

• 🔢 It's late in the evening and Uriah Hatfield's path through the Central Green is blocked by dozens of agitated muscheron crowded around the Surly Stump. There's not enough moonlight to make out what they're angry about, but before they can get any closer a toadstool in a tiny hard hat starts shouting.
  
  "GIBBAK, GIBBAK!" It runs toward Uriah, very seriously waving its teeny arms. "WORKITZ HERE, WORKITZ HERE!"
  
  The darkness makes it hard to tell what the muscheron are workitz on, but before they're shooed away Uriah can just make out what looks like a long, snake-like tendril wrapped all the way the base of the Stump.
